Before we knew anything about circular fashion or sustainable shopping we knew the thrill of finding a vintage designer piece for a fraction of it's original pice.
We've known about the magic of thrifting for a very long time!
Back in the 90s, one of our favourite ways to spend a weekend was to pile into the car and head down the coast.
There wasn't really a plan apart from beach hopping and op shopping!
We'd stop wherever looked good, have a swim, find an op shop, then find another one.
Maybe we'd grab some chips. Maybe we'd find a little café.
And definitely, somewhere along the way, we'd discover something we absolutely did not need but suddenly could not live without.
By the end of the day, we'd be heading home sunkissed, happy and surrounded by all of our new/old treasures.
The car was always considerably fuller on the way home.
How little has changed!
We still love the beach.
We still love to thrift.
And we still get that little rush when we find something extraordinary hiding on a rack.
The difference is that we've now spent more than three decades doing it.
We've watched literally hundreds of thousands of people discover the same joy we found on those early road trips.
There's something about secondhand shopping that rewards you for being curious.
You have to look. You have to touch things.
You learn to notice the fabric, the cut, the label, the little details.
That's where the magic happens.
And perhaps that's why we still love it so much.
It's the same feeling we had in the 90s.
Only now, instead of driving around looking for the next op shop, we're bringing hundreds of racks of amazing pieces together in one place.
The sport has simply got a little bit easier to play.
So if you see us at the racks, come and say hello.
Tell us what you've found.
Tell us where you've been.
And if you've got a favourite beach-hopping and op-shopping route from the 90s, we'd quite like to hear about that too.
Because some things really don't need updating.
Beach. Thrift. Repeat.
That's still a pretty perfect Saturday.
